Optimal consumption and portfolio choice with ambiguity and anticipation

چکیده

This paper, adopting the recursive multiple-priors utility, studies the optimal consumption and portfolio choice in a Merton-style model with anticipation when there is a difference between ambiguity and risk. The fundamental issue is what the effects of ambiguity and anticipation on the investor’s behavior are. In the case of a logarithmic felicity function, the paper also shows that no hedging demand arises that is affected by both ambiguity and anticipation. Finally, the optimal portfolio is derived in terms of Malliavin derivatives and stochastic integrals. 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Optimal Consumption and Portfolio Choice under Ambiguity for a Mean-reverting Risk Premium in Complete Markets

This paper explicitly solves, in closed form, the optimal consumption and portfolio choice for an ambiguity averse investor in a Merton-type two assets economy where a risk premium follows a mean-reverting process. The investor’s preferences are represented by the recursive multiple priors utility model developed by Chen and Epstein (2002). The investor’s utility depends on both intermediate co...

Ambiguity, Risk and Portfolio Choice under Incomplete Information

This paper studies optimal consumption and portfolio choice in a Merton-style model with incomplete information when there is a distinction between ambiguity and risk. The latter distinction is afforded by adoption of recursive multiple-priors utility. The fundamental issues are: (i) How does the agent optimally estimate the unobservable processes as new information arrives over time? (ii) What...

Scale-invariant asset pricing and consumption/portfolio choice with general attitudes toward risk and uncertainty

Motivated by notions of aversion to Knightian uncertainty, this paper develops the theory of competitive asset pricing and consumption/portfolio choice with homothetic recursive preferences that allow essentially any homothetic uncertainty averse certainty-equivalent form. The market structure is scale invariant but otherwise general, allowing any trading constraints that scale with wealth. Tec...

Robust portfolio selection with polyhedral ambiguous inputs

Ambiguity in the inputs of the models is typical especially in portfolio selection problem where the true distribution of random variables is usually unknown. Here we use robust optimization approach to address the ambiguity in conditional-value-at-risk minimization model. We obtain explicit models of the robust conditional-value-at-risk minimization for polyhedral and correlated polyhedral am...

Optimal Stopping of Active Portfolio Management

We study an investor’s decision to switch from active portfolio management to passive management. This problem is mathematically modelled by a mixture of a consumption-portfolio selection problem and an optimal stopping problem. We assume that the investor has stochastic differential utility with ambiguity aversion and incurs utility loss from active portfolio management that can be avoided by ...
